Juergen Barthel, Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Juergen has been working in the travel industry since 1987 with focus in aviation. Since 1992, he has been employed in the travel IT, with companies such as Amadeus, i:FAO or KDS. In 1996, Juergen was responsible for the development of the first Amadeus based booking engine, enabling live business travel bookings. In 1997, this solution was mentioned in a keynote at the Amadeus User Conference in Barcelona as a "highlight" of Amadeus’ ability to support Internet technologies. Lufthansa’s live bookings came more than two years later (according to archive.org). After being a frequent controversial speaker at ITB’s renowned technology congress, he joined the editorial team from 2001-2004. Find more on his private homepage.
